The Meaning Of Domesticity in design and media study

Introduction

The first daily objects are shoes， which are wearing by people in everyday life（Figure1）. And the second object is tea， which is a kind of cultural thing from china（Figure 2）. Family is the main position for this art book， that means it is not only the place where people always live in everyday， but also the warmest place for them to enjoy. In the following essay， the creative connection between these two things will be introduced. The first part is shoes， and the second part is tea， then the following is about the introduction of this art book.

Discussion

The first kind of object in peoples daily life are shoes， which is the most important things for them to keep warm no matter where they go. In ancient times， people usually use animal skins in order to protect feet when they go to a rough place and against the bitter cold. On behalf of shoes “shoe”， appeared in more than 3000 years ago （Ji，1046BC）. During the warring states period， when Sun bin s kneecap broken， he use hard leather cut into “Di” and “Bang”， invented the high leather ribbon， later boots.（Liu， 475BC） The shoes during the Warring States period， are made from bronze. Klomps were invented in the northern and southern dynasties. （Zhang， 2013）

In modern time， shoes are different from the ancient times， but the function of that is not change， protect feet and keep warm. From spring people usually wear cloth shoes， and sandals for summer， which due to the fact that these two season is warm and people will feel cool. During autumn and winter， people have to wear leather shoes and boots to keep warm.There is a saying that if peoples feet are not cold， then the whole body may be warm. So I catch this point to make creative. There also many other utilizes of shoes， such as give someone as a gift， which can warm someones heart.

The second kind of cultural object is tea， which represents a kind of spirit， letting people calm down and do something insipid and It is a kind of leisurely and comfortable state. Tea is a kind of beverage made from the leaves of a tea tree， which has a long history in china. Shen Nong is the first person invited tea during Shennong period. （Lu，760 AD） Tea culture enlightenment is beginning from the Three Kingdoms period （220 AD-280 AD）， which said that tea have the medical value. （Li，1578） “Eat bitter tea for a long time， good” （Hua， end of the Han Dynasty）. From the Northern and Southern Dynasties to the period of Ming and Qing Dynasty， the culture of tea experienced enlightenment to popularity.

When people talk about tea， it can also be thought of tea cups. For example， Oolong tea and Puer tea are usually in dark-red enameled pottery， which cannot let tea aroma away， and Black tea is commonly in ceramic cups， compare with the green tea， which is in glass cup. （Niu 2016） “The purpose of tea ceremony in Tang and Song dynasty is in white Mobo， black porcelain is the shards of aesthetic standards. The mean parts of tea in Ming and Qing dynasties is green bud leaves， the best tea cups is Jingdezhen ceramics” （Zheng， 2011 P73）

There are nine pages in this artist book， shaped in pyramid and it is just like the house， which the theme of this book is family. The connection between these two things is family， which connect from “warmth” and the books presentation includes visual effects， olfactory effects， and tactile effects. Family is not only the place where people can live in， but also the place where people enjoy themselves. Everyone may face the troubles in their life， family is always the place that give people warmth and care. From the top to the bottom of the artist book， the size of each page is bigger than the pervious page， which like the stares in the house. The meaning of this shape is that if people understand the significance of family， then they will know that the family is big and wide for them to have a rest when they feel down. If everyones life is a movie， then how do you want to direct your story.

Conclusion

Tea represent a sense of spirt， and is meant to be calmness and serenity. The more fragrant the tea leaves， the more fragrant it tells people to calm down and enjoy life. Home is the place where we live and the warmest part of our soul. Refusing meaningless quarreling.
