Analysis and Consideration of Women’s Resistance to Marriage in Present

【Abstract】In the new ages of globalization， great changes have occurred in Chinese economic and social structures. The social transformation make Chinese women changes their thought and behavior of marriage runs counter to traditional marriage. They advocate gender equality and freedom of marriage. This article elaborates the reasons and influence of prevailing phenomenon about no marriage， hopes it will work for the study on changes of female marriage views and more and more people could look squarely at the phenomenon.

In china， the densely-populated country， single older female is more than male of the same age. The prevailing phenomenon of no marriage， this article explored its internal and outer factors， analysis its influence on society. I hope people could face up to the phenomenon in the meantime.

I. The outer factors

1.The change of chose spouses

Matrimony is “the command of parents， the words of a match-maker”， is the relation of the contract concluded between the two families for some interests in past. The first Marriage Law of the People’s Republic of China has the spirit of making the freedom of marriage and monogamy. Additionally， since reform and opening-up， our country’s women not only better educated but also personal ability is greatly empowered， so they have the right to speak in family and society. Therefor women could chose spouses on own mind， so resistance to marriage has been a prevailing trend.

2.The education levels

It was found that no marriage female bachelor degree and above with 80%， and the marriageable age has gone up nowadays. The women which reached marriageable age， their desire of marriage became decrease following the education level increasing. Their demands of marital quality have been higher and higher because they recognized the importance of marital quality deeper than the women which undereducated. More and more women chose to enjoy own single life rather than women who get traditional and unfair marriage.

3.Child-bearing age and cost

According to the investigation， most of women consider that age of 20 to 29 is the right age of child-bearing， there are 50% think that the age of 22 to 25 is the best. In fact， there are differences between cities and town about the ideal child-bearing age. There are 43% of women are grown up from the family in cities which have one child often chose to have child after the age of 25， more than who grown up in town. Late marriages and late childbirth became their excuse to resistant marriage.

II. The internal factors

1.The change of individual values

Marriage and child raise is the life track of most traditional women in China. They consider the domestic skills are capital to evaluation and realization self-worth of interpersonal communication. Modern society is an increasingly intense competitive diversified society， so more and more women be aware of matrimony is not the only way to realized self-worth， especially the women who feel so stress for life and work in the first-tier city.

2.Personal fear of marriage

Personal psychology also the main factor that could not be ignored. Most of women worried about that love will be destroyed and freedom will be restricted to marriageable. The relations also become complexity. They don’t want to face the complexities of family life.

3. The balance of work and family

With the increase of educational level 80% of women have a job could feed self and their salary more than same aged men on 30%. In order to be approved from society， some women chose to struggle in the workplace. Meanwhile they realized they must work harder in the mainstream of male chauvinism in society. They don’t want ignore work because of gravitated towards household chore by marriage.

III. The influence of no marriage in society

Family is the basic cell of the society， it is the vital point contact society with individual. The prevailing of female’s resistance to marriage definite impact on declined percentage of normal families and “Family Culture” nowadays. This phenomenon has activated a series of reaction as the rapidity of population’s aging and so on.

Despite no marriage has impact on society， the females which chose to stay single， their economy and spiritual independence. Even if they want to fall in love with someone， they will choose the one who can make life more fun instead of joyless. I believe the society will progress only when people can face squarely the phenomenon. You don’t have to accept it but you could comprehend it as a common thing.
