教學目標：

1.知識目標：

（1）利用問答操練以復習本單元所學過的詞匯: country ，capital city， map， north， south， east， west， China，U.S.， U.K.， Australia， English， Chinese， know， speak.

（2）復習句型Do you know whereis? Yes， I know. / No， I don’t know.

2.能力目標：能用英語說出主要英語國家的名稱、首都、語言和名勝，能運用一些描述地圖的基本詞匯來描述地圖。

3.情感目標：通過了解China和English speaking countries的一些基本情況，培養學生熱愛祖國的情感。

教學重點：

能夠用英語說出各個國家的名稱、首都、語言、名勝等基本特點，能在地圖上流暢地描述各國之間的位置。

教學難點：

能夠熟練并且清晰地說出各國的特點。

教學過程：

I．Greeting

T: Good morning， boys and girls.

Ss: Good morning， Miss Wang.

II．Presentation

A: Oral practice

Practice1：Show the picture of the map to review：north south west and east .

T: Look here， what’s this?

Ss It’s a map.

T: Yes. On a map， this is…

Ss: North.

T: Good， north points…on a map.

S: North points up.

T: This is…

S: South.

T: South points…

S: South points down.

T: Very good. Where is ‘east’?

S: East points right.

T: Excellent.

T: Do you know where ‘west’is?

S: West points left.

T: Good girl.

Practice 2: Show the cards of the countries. Review the names of the countries.

T:How many countries did we learn? Do you still remember?

S: Yes， five.

T: They are…

S: China， Canada， the U.S.， the U.K. and Australia.

Practice 3: Look at the map of the world. Say the directions of the countries.

T: Very good. Look at the map. Can you say something about the directions and the counties? For example: The U.S. is east of China. Can you have a try?

S: The U.S. is south of Canada.

S: Canada is north of the U.S.

S: The U.S. is south of Canada.

S: The U.K. is west and a little north of China.

S: Australia is south and east of China.

T: Good work. Which country do you want to go? What do you know about this country? Choose a card and discuss it in your groups. I’ll give you 10 minutes.

Practice 4: Describe my country including the name，、capital city、the flag、something famous and the language.

T: Look here， what country is it?

S: It’s China.

T: Right. What do you know about ‘China’?

S: We live in China.

S: Beijing is the capital city of China.

S: We speak Chinese.

S: China’s flag is red. It has five yellow stars.

T: What is famous in China?

S: Tian’anmen Square is famous.

S: And the Palace Museum is famous， too.

S: I know the Great Wall is very famous in the world.

T: Very good.

Practice 5: Ask each group to describe the English-speaking countries.

T: What country is this?

Ss: It’s Canada.

T: What do you know about Canada?

S: Jenny and Danny live in Canada.

S: They speak English and French in Canada.

S: The capital city of Canada is Ottawa.

S: Canada’s flag is red and white， it has a leaf.

S: Niagara falls is a famous water fall in Canada.

S: We know the president of the U.S. lives in the White House.

S: And I know Statue of Liberty is in New York.

T: And here is another country. The capital city is London. What country is it?

T: Well done .The U.K. is short for…

Ss: The United Kingdom.

T: Can you introduce the U.K. to us， please?

S: The U.K. is west and a little north of China.

S: I know there is a king or a queen in the U.K.

S: We know kings and queens live in palaces.

T: What is the famous palace in London? Do you know?

Ss: Yes， it’s Buckingham Palace.

T: Ok. You really know about the U.K. Here is the last country we leant last week. What country is it?

Ss: Australia.

T: Right.What can you say about Australia?

S: The capital city of Australia is Canberra.

S: They speak English.

S: Australia’s flag is blue. It has white stars.

S: There is a little flag inside Australia’s flag. It’s the U.K.’s flag.

T: Wonderful. Look at the pictures. What are these? They are very famous in Australia.

S: I know .It’s a kangaroo.

T: Yes， where do the lovely kangaroos live?

S: They live in Australia.

T: Yeah， Australia is kangaroos’home.

T: And what’s this?

S: This is a beach. Australia has beautiful beaches.

T: Good work， class. You really know about these countries.

B: Written practice

T: Can you fill in these blanks?

III. Consolidation

Oral practice again. The students can speak English fluently.

T: Have you finished?

Ss: Yes.

T: Ok， look here. I’ll ask one student to fill in one country.

S: The capital city is Ottawa.
