⑥結(jié)果,購買蔬菜或大米比以前貴多了。更糟糕的是,很多蔬菜對(duì)人的健康有害。

Unit 1 Women of achievement
My grandma led a hard life in her childhood, in which the family was so poor that she was looked down upon by her peers. One day, when delivering a newspaper to a neighbor, my grandmacame across an article about Marie Curie, which inspired grandma to behave better in daily life andsheintendedto be a woman doctor.
Grandma has spent half of her life observingthe villagers’ health. Though her clinic is in the shade of the trees in the countryside and she isn’t supported by most ofher relatives, all her patients respect her. When she refers to her achievements, an idea always crowdsinon my grandmathat she wants one of her grandsons or granddaughters to carry on her career.
Unit 2 Working the land
China is an agricultural country and Chinese people used to focus on farming in their fields and helping crops or vegetables grow strong and healthy. Thanks to the farmers’ hard work, they could depend on the land to rid themselves of hunger and export different kinds of agricultural products, for which they have struggled for several decades. However, with the development of the society, a disturbing problem occurred that more and more huge buildings occupied agricultural land and chemical substances discharged from many factories polluted the soil, which led to the reduction of the agricultural products.
As a result, vegetables or rice is much more expensive than before and what’s worse, many vegetables are harmful to people’s health. Therefore, when we are not satisfied with our life, it’s time we kept the world free from industrial pollution and regretted destroying the land which we would rather leave for our offspring.
Unit 3 A taste of English humour
Zhao Benshan, born in a poor family in China in 1958, began to learn acting when he was six years old. Heovercame all the difficulties and performed entertaining skits which make people laugh. Zhao also starred in many outstanding sketches at Chinese Spring Festival Gala, such as Bai Nian, Xiang Qin , Juan Zhu and so on.
His acting was so convincing that every time he performed his sketches, the audience stopped whispering and burst into laughter, reacting positively. Up to now, people still like to call Zhao “Eastern Charlie Chaplin” because nobody has been able to act better in sketches throughout China and Chinese people feel very content with his performances. Zhao is not badly off now, but he never forgets the poor and he has donated a great deal of money to his hometown and the disastrous areas .
Unit 4 Body language
There is a survey among my classmates about different body languages representing different ways to greet others. 60% of them think smile is the best way to show good feelings because it puts people at ease and it is good to avoid misunderstanding. 30% of my classmates believe shaking hands means being more polite to greet each other, especially to those who do not like losing face or being kissed on the cheek.
Only 10% of the students hold the opinion that they would like to hug each other to greet good friends if they meet again but when a stranger tries to approach them or hug them, they will be in defenseby turning their back to him. In general, the students are likely to prefer smile as a representing body language to greet others.
Unit 5 Theme Parks
Shenzhen Ocean World, located in the Xiaomeisha Beach Resort and covering an area of near 200,000 square meters, is an oceanic culture theme park. It is famous for its unique performances performed in the water and preserves seven pavilions and three gardens, which are modeled after the lives of creatures under the sea. It has not only various attractions which attracttourists from China but also different kinds of amusements that can amusechildren.
It is no wonder that tourists have to booktickets in advance in peak tourist seasons whentourists go into the submarine tunnel, they can not help getting close to the colorful fish which come to life and swim actively around them. To be honest, Shenzhen Ocean World greatly promotes the local economy.
