Non—English Major Self—study Students Vocabulary Learning Strategies

【Abstract】Since the grasp and application of the vocabulary is to improve the English scholars the essential condition of their English language skills， and vocabulary level difference is mainly by the students in different stages of learning motive attitude and method；In this paper from the particularity of students learning English vocabulary and the lack of self-learning English difficult this fact， from the perspective of vocabulary learning strategies， students English vocabulary learning strategies of non-english major self-study are discussed.

Vocabulary learning is an important part of English learning. The size of vocabulary directly affects the development of skills such as listening， speaking， reading and writing. The mastery and application of vocabulary is a prerequisite for language acquisition to improve their English language skills. Over the past ten years， experts and scholars have done a lot of research on the aspects of vocabulary learning， which comprehensively discussed the various strategies of vocabulary learning and made detailed classification instructions. But there is not much research on the vocabulary strategy of the special learning group. According to statistics， most of the students in the current society have not been exposed to English for almost 2， 3 years， and it is difficult to learn English in this situation. For most self-taught English learners， one of the main problems in learning English is vocabulary learning.

English （2） includes about 3， 800 English words （1， 600 of which are learned in middle school）， about 750 words and 50， 000 words. To read and speak fluently， the grammatical features of word （part of speech and morphological changes）， and can speak Chinese word meaning， the word to english-chinese translation， which are frequently used correctly spelled and remember fixed collocation. In addition， you need to understand the basic word formation rules， remember the meanings of prefixes， suffixes， and guess the word meaning and meaning. This task is not difficult to say， but it is almost impossible to complete such a vocabulary because of the heavy workload of the students， the responsibilities of the family and the lack of learning time. The difficulty of self-learning English is actually caused by the lack of vocabulary. Less vocabulary becomes a “obstacle” for examinees passing the public English test.

Vocabulary level differences mainly by motivation， attitude and methods of the students in different stages， the learners self learning system model， namely the students motivation， ideas and strategies related to each other this three part， influence each other. （wen qiufang 1996） different learning motivation and different learning concepts have led to different learning strategies and learning management methods. The learning strategy is divided into two levels： metacognitive strategy and cognitive strategy. （Chamot 1987） learning strategy use appropriate or not to a great extent determine the effect of learning methods （g. 1996） as a result， the students vocabulary learning difficulties is not caused by the problem of local， in order to improve the effect of vocabulary learning， must adjust the self learning system. This paper from the particularity of English learning and the students hope to rapidly expand your vocabulary， but suffer from does not have the desired effect of the fact that， from the vocabulary learning strategy， discusses the examinee of English vocabulary learning strategies.

The word study expert Nation （1990： prologue） points out that there are two types of words that are used by words： low-frequency words and high frequency words. There are about 2， 000 high frequency words in English. High frequency vocabulary constitutes a very useful and necessary vocabulary for any use of English. Different learning strategies determine the use of different learning strategies. For examinees， it is important to know which words are high frequency words and which are low-frequency words， because it will affect the overall level of students vocabulary.

The training methods of memory are various， the word thousands， any one kind of memory method， only applicable part of the word， so do not believe in a certain kind of memory method. Take an examination of the examinee should be used in the process of vocabulary memory series of vocabulary memory strategies and methods， at the same time for their own conscious memory process planning and management， improve their own vocabulary self-study mode， in order to achieve the best effect of vocabulary memory.
