This building is the first coastal high-rise art hotel in China. Its contour is like a flying bird, while the undulating texture of guest room balconies echoes the sea far away. The exterior curved surface of building faces the sea, thereby minimizing the impact of wind on structure and maximizing the view width of sea view rooms.
The height difference at the site of Sanya Haitang Bay is more than 20m, which makes it possible to create abundant stratification of landscapes. The architect designed unique walking routes, through which you can enjoy the unique coastal landscape of Haitang Bay no matter how you arrive at the hotel. The curved terraces are unfolded level by level to reflect the image of dunes, which express the terrain strategy in design.
Art" and "Romance" constitute the two most important design keywords for this hotel. A hall of light & shadow is created from 10,000 red metal wire grids at the top of the lobby. The guest room corridors and elevator halls are created as a series of doors of light so that guests arrive at their rooms through "a journey of crossing".
Typically, seaside resort buildings should be kept as low and low-profile as possible. At the Haitang Bay Mangrove Hotel, the towering giant mass also constitutes a dramatic dialogue with the open coastal environment. The architect preserves the space symbol that tropical resort deserves at the entrance area, but the sloping roof and vault are simply designed to be white, which fits well with the undulating white balconies of superstructures. The large landscape waters that are adjacent to the buildings enhance the peaceful and relaxing holiday atmosphere.
The unique structure is the most important factor for the project's success. The building incorporates a dual side force resistance frame-shear wall structure system: Floors 3-16 on both sides are projected in an asymmetric manner, and floor-by-floor contraction is arranged after 17F in the middle. The longest length of the plane is approx. 210m, while the largest cantilever length in the middle is 30m (with curvature).
The curve-interlaced balconies constitute a wonder of architectural skin and facilitate the control over energy consumption of sun exposure. The optimized layout plan gives full play to the core tube of high-rise building. The design of side helipad on the top floor is another important technical difficulty in this case.
This hotel is rooted in a unique climate and topographical environment. During its design, the original terrain height differences and native plants are carefully collected, organized and recorded by the design team. Furthermore, the Team fully interacts with local eco-environmental authorities, having preserved the continuity of the ecosystem.
Through the adequate communication with media and hotel industry during design, another important function, i.e. aerial wedding ceremony, is assigned to the aerial helipad and successfully implemented. After its opening, this function is well received by guests and successfully organized a number of wedding ceremonies.
