海門老街是浙江省臺州市椒江區的一條從清末延續下來的傳統商業街，保留了近代沿海殖民城市開埠建關的早期形態特征。21 世紀初，在臺州市椒江區舊城改造中，同濟大學常青團隊對這條百年老街做了保護與再生研究，在原址原貌地完整保存了這條古街，整修了街道，改善了基礎設施，修復了街區老建筑，并使其功用得到活化。經過保護與再生設計和實施，海門老街自2005 年開街以來，已融入了臺州當代城市生活的整體氛圍，成為市民集體記憶、懷舊儀式和風貌觀光的好去處。

保護與再生設計主要包括：1）從中式和西式相拼接的肌理和街廓、石板路面，到臨街宅院、商鋪、廟宇等，保存了江浙沿海近代中西合璧的老街樣本；2）重點保留了作為城市歷史見證的非物質遺產—紀念內涵，老字號和民俗儀式，并將其納入日常街區生活；3）改善了街區的基礎設施，對街區內上下水、電力、通信等線路進行了更新，并采取了隱蔽安裝的方式，盡量減少對街廓建筑外觀的干擾。

總之，海門老街再生后，不但恢復了歷史商業街的識別性和綜合功能，提升了街區居民的生活質量，而且復興了街區的傳統文化，成為當地新的民俗活動中心。該項目2005 年開街，2010 年獲得UNESCO 亞太文化遺產保護榮譽提名獎。□

Haimen Old Street is a traditional commercial street in Jiaojiang District of the Taizhou city,Zhejiang Province. It flourished in the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and retained the early characteristics of coastal trading ports during the semi-colonial early modern period. At the turn of the 21st century, the team headed by Professor CHANG Qing from Tongji University carried out a preservation and regeneration design for this century-old street, as part of the old city transformation project in Jiaojiang District of Taizhou. The project kept the original old street in situ, repaired the road, ungraded the infrastructure, restored the historic buildings, and revitalised their functions. Since its reopening in 2005, North Xinjiao Street has been integrated into the overall milieu of contemporary urban life in Taizhou. It is currently a popular destination for the collective memory, nostalgic rituals, and sightseeing for city residents.

Its design strategies can be summarised in the following three points. Firstly, the distinguished architectural elements were carefully preserved,from the city-level urban fabric, street blocks and stone paving roads, to the building-level street-front courtyard houses, shophouses and temples, so as to keep a precious sample for the East-meets-West old streets in coastal Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces. Secondly, the intangible heritage items that bore witness to the city's history, such as commemorative connotations,time-honoured brands, and folk rituals, were preserved and assimilated into the daily street life. Thirdly, the municipal infrastructure along the old street was improved by upgrading water and sewage, electricity, and communication lines,and their visual impact was minimised by using a concealed installation method.

In conclusion, the regeneration of Haimen Old Street not only restored the identity and comprehensive functions of the historic commercial street and improved the residents' quality of life, but also revitalised the neighbourhood's traditional value, transforming it into a new hub for local folklore activities.The project was completed in 2005 and received an honourable mention from the jury of the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation.□

UNESCO亞太文化遺產保護獎評語

中國浙江省“海門老街（北新椒街）保護實施工程設計”項目獲得了2010 年聯合國教科文組織UNESCO 亞太地區文化遺產保護榮譽提名獎。該年提交的參選項目代表了推進該地區保護工作方面的重大成就，在建筑類型、保護范圍和地理位置等方面都十分廣泛。2010 年聯合國教科文組織亞太地區文化遺產保護獎評選共收到33 件參賽項目。其中提交參賽的保護項目來自該地區計14 個國家包括酒店、教育機構、宗教場所、公共機構、居住建筑和城市街區項目。

評審團對該項目的評語指出，“海門老街（北新椒街）保護實施工程設計”項目將臺州僅存的傳統商業街作為一個歷史中的飛地處理，在一個快速發展的現代城市中完成了修復設計。該設計取代了原先需要完全拆除和重建整條街道以改善排水系統的方案，留存了該地區的物質肌理和社群結構，因而代表了當地居民的勝利。對于歷史留存的木制外墻和磚外墻，項目秉承材料真實、技藝真實的原則完成了修復。當地居民的生活質量得到改善，電力和其他配套設施及服務通過優化整合的方式得到升級。傳統習俗得到了復興，使這條百年老街再次成為這座城市鮮活歷史的一部分。整個項目團隊在保護方面取得的成就，確保了亞太地區遺產在社群中持久存續。□（潘玥 譯）

Comment of 2010 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation

Haimen Street (The North Xinjiao Street),Zhejiang, China was recognised with an Honourable Mention in the 2010 UNESCO Asia Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation programme. This year's submissions represented a major achievement in advancing conservation in the region. The projects were of great breadth in building type,conservation scope and geographic location. A total of 33 entries were received for the 2010 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation. The conservation project submissions included hotels, educational institutions, religious sites, public institutions,residential buildings and urban districts from 14 countries in the region.

The panel shares their comments on this award-winning project as follows: Haimen Street project has restored the last remaining traditional commercial street in Taizhou as an historic enclave in the middle of a rapidlydeveloping modern city. Undertaken in lieu of an alternative project which would have required completely demolishing and rebuilding the entire street to improve water drainage,the project represents a victory for the local residents, as it has sustained both the physical as well as the social fabric of the place. The historic timber and brick fa?ades were restored using authentic materials and hand-tooled techniques.The quality of life of the local residents has improved, with the upgrade of electricity and other services in a discreet and wellintegrated manner. Traditional customs have been revived,ensuring that the 100-year old street once again is a vibrant part of the city's living history. The outstanding conservation achievements of the entire project team ensure that the heritage of the Asia-Pacific region will continue to have a life in the community.□
