“因特網”新詞匯賞析

隨著計算機科技的發展，在漢語里有關計算機的新詞涌現很多，如“上網”、“網民”、“網蟲”、“微機”、“英特網”、“因特網”、“計算機病毒”、“網吧”等已是家喻戶曉，但對英語愛好者來說，計算機技術新詞也是如雷貫耳，筆者為了大家學習記憶方便，將其分類整理如下：

一、計算機技術用語新詞

1．首字母縮略詞

在計算機新詞中，縮略詞居多。例：

IRC 表示 internal relay chat（因特網中繼對話）

POST 表示 power-on self-test（通電自控程序）

BIOS 表示 Basic input/output system（基本輸入/輸出程序）

PDS 表示 portable document software（可移植文件檔案）

PDS 表示 personal digital system（個人數字系統）

WWW 表示 World Wide Web（萬維網）

在隨意列舉的上面幾詞中，就有PDS分別表示不同的術語，它們的使用和理解需嚴格按照上下文，才能正確識別。

2．混成詞

knowbot 知識機器人

mailbot 郵政機器人

interpedia 因特網全書

infobahn 信息巴恩

coopetition 合作競爭

E-mail 電子郵件

info window 信息視窗

Telnet 遠程登錄

3．新詞

5．舊詞新義

mouse原為“老鼠”，在計算機技術中表示“鼠標定位器”

flame 原為“火焰”、“激情”，計算機技術中表示“不良信息”，與此相關的表達法還有flame bait（不良信息餌）、flame war（不良信息戰）

Trojan horse原為“木馬計”，指古希臘人攻打特洛伊時，把精兵埋伏于大木馬內，誘使特洛伊人將木馬放入城中，夜間伏兵跳出，里應外合，攻下此城。計算機技術中指“一種為完成某種有效功能而出現的程序”（A program that appears to perform a valid function but contains，hidden in its code，instructions that cause damage（sometimes severe）to the systems on which it runs.）

antivirus program原為生物學中的“抗病毒素”，計算機技術中指一種“反病毒程序”

6．類似電報用語的詞匯

二、計算機技術新詞翻譯窺探

隨著計算機技術新詞的大量涌現，其翻譯也五花八門，耐人尋味，現舉幾例。

1．直譯

mail bomb 郵件炸彈

macro viruses 宏病毒

E-mail電子郵件

electronic wallet 電子錢夾

electronic purse 電子錢包

2．半音半意

infobahn 信息巴恩

3．一語多譯

World wide web（WWW） 萬維網，環球網，全球網

Internet 互聯網，國際網，因特網，英特網

Intranent 企業網，內聯網

4．一綴多譯

antivirus program 反病毒程序

antialiasing 去階梯法

antistatic mat 抗靜電墊

5．添加法

spell checker 拼寫檢查法程序

mail exploder 郵件炸彈程序

三、有待商榷的漢譯

計算機技術發展飛快，新詞出現迅速，盡管全國科學技術名詞審定委員會于1997和1998年公布了一批科技名詞，仍不能滿足需要，仍出現一詞多譯的現象。如前面所提到的WWW，Internet，intranet等詞，音譯、意譯混用，容易讓非計算機專業人員產生誤解。因此，應盡量以審定公布的譯名為宜。另外，還有一些詞的漢譯過于字面化。如，internet worm，有些人將它譯為“網蟲”。在漢語里，“網蟲”多指沉迷于計算機網絡的人，與“網民”同義，只不過這些人訪問網絡次數多點罷了，稍帶詼諧之意，就像稱呼球迷、影迷一樣；而實際是指“表面上作為無害實驗而設計的一種流氓程序，并于1998年在整個因特網上傳播，致使全世界成千上萬臺計算機過載并停止運轉。（A rogue program，ostensibly designed as a harmless experiment，that propagated throughout the Internet in 1998，overloading and shutting down thousands of computer systems worldwide。）”因此，為區別于我們通常意義上的“網蟲（民）”，該詞在翻譯時需加上“程序”二字或譯為“網絡蠕蟲程序”為宜。

還有electronic wallet，有人將它譯為“電子錢夾”，將electronic purse譯為“電子錢包”。“電子錢夾”和“電子錢包”對人們來說容易引起誤解，往往會與電子鐘表之類的東西產生聯想，加之在漢語里，錢包與錢夾是同一物品的不同叫法。而根據它們的定義，Electronic Wallet：（1）A small portable device that loads and reads smart cards. It can display how much money is stored on the user’s own smart card， and transfer money (with the appropriate authorizations) between the wallet and the user’s or someone else’s smart card. Some electronic wallets may be able to communicate wirelessly and some may be integrated with PDAs. （一種裝載和讀出智能卡(信息)的小型便攜裝置。它可顯示有多少錢存在用戶自己的智能卡上，并可在這種裝置和用戶或其他人的智能卡之間劃撥現金(在恰當認可的情況下)。某些這樣的裝置還能夠進行無線通信，某些可能與PDA(個人數字助理)集成。）(2) As used by CheckFree Corporation and the Electronic Business CO-OP， a program which can be integrated into or used in conjunction with a WWW browser to enable the secure transmission of credit card information over the network and permit CheckFree to authorize and settle the transaction for a merchant。(一種集成于WWW瀏覽器或與WWW瀏覽器結合使用的程序，在CheckFree公司和Electronic Business公司中有所應用。它用來保障網絡上信用卡信息的安全傳輸，為商業用戶提供CheckFree授權允許，并設置相應交易。)

Electronic Purse：A smart card with stored value that can be loaded with digital cash at banks or from electronic wallets in the home and spent at properly equipped point-of-sale system devices. It is designed to replace cash and coins for many consumer payments under ＄10.There are over 300 billion consumer cash transactions in the U.S. each year versus only 60 billion consumer bank card， check and wire transfer transactions. Visa International has formed a consortium of international leaders in consumer payments to develop common worldwide specifications for an electronic purse. （一種具有存儲值的智能卡，它可裝有銀行的或來自家庭中Electronic Wallet的數字現金，并在正確裝配的銷售點系統裝置上消費。它設計用于取代現金和許多消費者支付的10美元以下的硬幣。美國每年有3000多億筆消費者現金交易，而只有600億消費者銀行卡、支票和有線劃撥交易。Visa國際公司已在消費支付方面組成一國際領導人聯合體，以開發用于這種電子智能卡的世界公用規范。）不如將前者譯為“電子讀卡裝置/程序”，后者譯為“電子金融卡”。
