英語教學不僅僅是關注詞語的使用、語法結構的分解,更要抓住語言的韁繩,通過細讀文本去觸摸語言跳動的生命脈搏。在現行的《牛津高中英語》課本中,許多文章用細膩的語言、深刻地揭示了學生的成長、社會的現實、科技的發展、文化的源流等。在文章中作者通過不同的形式把自己個人的情感融于課本之中,讓學生通過對課文的學習來領悟人世間所涌動的真情實意,個人的情思隨著跳動的文字展示于眼前。
一、怡情之語、沁人肺腑
在許多課文中作者通過不同的話語將個人的深情流露出,個人的情感伴隨著那充滿感情的話語傾瀉而出,讓人讀后深感情真意切。這些話語的表述把作者的真情和盤托出,讓人感受到這仿佛是作者與讀者之間心靈上的共鳴。閱讀下面的一些從課文中摘取的片段,從話語中便能體會到這股率真之情。

It then became rich and busy city.…When I walked around the city, I saw streets as they had been, with stepping stones along the road so you did not step in the mud on rainy days!
