一、教學背景
語言教學,最怕學生不開口。在英語教學中,讓學生用英語說話更難。我曾碰到過這么一個班。學生大都來自農村,在他們身上有著農村學生的樸實、謙遜,學習刻苦、勤奮。但他們大都比較靦腆,不善交流。因為在他們的潛意識中,只要考試成績好才是最重要的。然而,這不是英語教學的目的,英語教學必須重視學生語言的交流和運用。這就要求教師在教學過程中注重激發學生交流的興趣,鼓勵學生積極主動參與交流,并創設更多的交流機會,提高語言交流的能力。
本著這種目的,我選用了Lesson 83 BookⅡ進行嘗試。這一課生詞少,內容較簡單,主要是在上一課教學的基礎上進一步掌握運用反身代詞myself, yourself, himself, herself, itself, themselves, yourselves, ourselves,話題又非常貼近學生生活,是培養學生運用語言進行交流的好材料,好機會。
二、教學過程
一開始上課,我就拿出了幾張不同面值的人民幣,并明白地告訴學生,“Today we are going to talk about money.” 學生們的目光一下子被吸引了過來,表現出極大的熱情。 接著我提了三個問題。
1. Do you have any pocket money?
2. How much money do your parents give you every week?
3. What do you usually do with your money?
由三人一組模擬中央電視臺“實話實說”,一個扮演節目主持人——崔永元,另兩個是嘉賓,先讓他們準備幾分鐘,然后請幾組上臺表演。開始只有一兩個學生舉手,其余的你看我,我看你,但當第一組表演結束時,很多學生都舉手想來一試,以下是其中一組的采訪活動。
S1: Welcome to CCTV.
S2-3: Thank you very much.
S1: Today we invited two guests. This is Mr. Xu and this is Mr. Xiang. Well, may I ask you some questions?
S2-3: Sure, please.
S1: Mr. Xu, do you have any pocket money?
Xu: Yes, I do.
S1: How much do your parents give you every week?
Xu: About thirty yuan.
S1: Then what do you usually do with your money?
Xu: I usually spend five yuan a day. Two yuan is for my breakfast, three yuan is for my lunch, because I have my breakfast and lunchat school. I go home to have supper.
S1: Don’t you buy anything to eat or drink at the school shop?
Xu: No, I don’t. Sometimes I buy a pencil, an eraser and other school things.
S1:You are great. Thank you! Mr. Xiang, how about you?
Xiang: I usually have ninety or one hundred.
S1: Wow, so much!
Xiang: Because I live in school, I have three meals at school. I need ten yuan for three meals.
S1; But what do you usually do with your other fifty yuan?
Xiang: (with red face) I buy things with it.
S1: What things? Something to eat and to drink?
Xiang: Yes.
S1: Wow, too much. I think it’s a waste of money. Do you think so? (faces to the other students)
Ss: Yes, I think so.
采訪結束,我一提出“Do you want to have lots of money ? If you have lots of money, what will you do? For yourself?For your parents? For your friends or for others?學生就七嘴八舌地講開了,還有很多學生舉起了手。
S1.If I have lots of money, I will buy myself lots of delicious things to eat and drink.
S2. If I have lots of money, I will buy myself model planes, model ships and so on.
S3.If I have lots of money, I will buy many beautiful clothes for myself and for my mother. She never buy clothes for herself.
S4. If I have lots of money, I will buy two big houses .One is for myself, one is for my parents. They can live by themselves and enjoy themselves.
S5.I will go traveling with my parents and my friends. I’m sure we will enjoy ourselves.
S6.I will buy a plane to travel around the world with my parents and friends. We will enjoy ourselves, too.
S7.I will go to the USA to watch the NBA matches by myself.
S8.I will buy the NBA and all of my favorite basketball players for our country.
S9.I like singing and listening to music, I will buy myself all of my favorite DVDs and go to my favorite concerts. So I can enjoy myself.
S10.I will give some money to the poor children to let them go to school.
S11. I will give some money to some hospitals and some schools.
S12. I will do something to help all the disabled people. Let them feed themselves.
S13. I will help my hometown to be more and more beautiful. Then we can enjoy ourselves.
S14. I will start a company to make more money. I want to make much money by myself.
S15. I will use my money to invest the business to make more money.
每個人可謂爭先恐后,惟恐沒機會展示自己的觀點。到最后連平時一點不讀書的人也舉起了手,半英語半中文的說出了自己的想法。
S16.I will visit“太空” by“宇宙飛船”.
聽著學生的遐想,我感嘆著說:“How good if we have lots of money!” 學生幾乎是異口同聲地說,“Yes.”我緊接著問:“Then what do you think of money ?”
S1.Money is good, wonderful.
S2.Money is very important.
S3.Money is useful.
S4.Money can make me do everything.
S5.Money is everything.
個個臉上洋溢著興奮, 陶醉在對money的贊美當中, 回答也一個比一個精彩。這時為了深化完成教學,我話題一轉。
Well, please look at these two pictures of Mr. More and Mr. Little. Let’s listen to the two passages, then answer the questions.
我邊放幻燈圖片及問題,邊放錄音,然后由學生一個個回答所提出的問題,文章簡單,學生回答這些問題也就沒什么困難。此時,學生先前那游動的心似乎有所平靜,并對“金錢”的理解有了進一步的認識,我順時又問, After reading the passages, what do you think of money now ?
S1.If you have lots of money, maybe you will be happy, maybe you won’t.
S2. If you have lots of money, but you don’t have any good friends, you will not be happy, either. You can’t enjoy yourself.
S3.I think money is very important, but money is not everything.
S4.I agree with him. Money can buy ourselves many things, but money can’t buy good friends.
S5.Money can’t buy love, either.
S6.Money can’t buy time.
學生的回答已無須補充,讓我出乎意外,驚嘆不已,我只有傾聽、表揚的份。接著我又提出,
“If you want to have lots of money?What should you do?”
S1.We must work hard.
S2.We must listen to the teacher carefully and do our homework carefully.
S3.We must work hard and try to go to college.
S4. We must...
這時一個頑皮的學生在底下突然冒出了一句:“我們還可以去偷、去搶……”幾乎全班同學都一齊大笑,我也并沒像往常一下拉下臉,而是朝他微微笑一下,然后問大家Can we?我播放了已準備的《少年犯》電影片斷,并讓學生聽了其主題曲,這時,同學們不笑了,那個同學的臉也紅了,不好意思地低下了頭。
放完片斷,我引導學生對以上討論內容及電影片斷進行了總結,并落實了課外寫作的任務:以 “If you have lots of money, what will you do?” 為題,寫一篇小作文。
三、教學反思
1.挖掘學生感興趣的話題,激發學生交流的興趣。
我認為從教材中挖掘學生感興趣的話題,是激發學生交流興趣的根本。而聯系學生的生活經驗是激發學生學習熱情、促使學生積極主動參與課堂的重要手段。讓教材與社會實際生活緊密相連,是新課程的基本理念和構建方式。這一要求反映在課堂教學中,就是要使課堂回歸生活世界,打破書本世界與生活世界之間的界限,使學生擺脫從書本到書本、從知識到知識的狀態。本節課,我從學生已有的生活經驗出發,為學生先創設了如何化零用錢實話實說的情境,使他們產生了交流的欲望,再為他們提供交流的機會,把學生由被動接受轉換成主動參與的地位,從而激發了他們交流的興趣。后又讓學生對目前尚沒有切身體驗和感受、但會在以后的發展中可能遇到的生活進行大膽設想,更是把學生推向了交流的高潮,連從不好好讀書的學生也舉手要交流。長期堅持下去,從“學交流”到“會交流”,讓學生有機會交流,充分地交流,盡情地交流。學生越交流越有成就感,越有成就感就越要交流。“要我交流”變成了“我要交流”,英語教學的目的就達到了。
2.創設自由和諧的交流空間,鼓勵學生積極參與交流。
就現代教育的終極目的來看,不外是傳授生存本領,激發創新精神和引領心靈旅程。無論是哪個方面,都要求教育必須以人為本。這就要求我們教師以平等的身份對待學生,給學生足夠的寬容與自由,創設自由和諧的交流空間,鼓勵學生積極參與交流。如果課堂上對學生說錯就指責,對學生半英文半中文不屑一顧,對個別調皮一點的學生就給他顏色看,試想學生還敢說嗎?能敞開思維大膽說嗎?所以,我在這一堂課中,始終以一個指導者、參與者、合作者的身份出現在學生面前,與學生平等,為學生創造自由、寬松的氛圍,同時給予他們寬容和安全,學生就可自由地去思考、去探討,學生參與交流的積極性主動性得到了應有的發揮,交流的熱情空前高漲。
3.尋找學生交流的契機,提高學生交流的能力。
英語教學任務重,時間緊,因而往往是課堂容量相對較大,課堂節奏也較快,有時為了趕進度,就把一堂課的內容濃縮成半堂課上完。殊不知這種做法極大地減少了學生英語交流的機會,同時也會嚴重地影響學生學英語的興趣,更不要說提高學生交流的能力了。所以,教師要尋找學生交流的契機,多讓學生進行交流的訓練。譬如這一堂課,是簡單的對話材料,又與學生生活實踐緊密相連,正是激發學生交流興趣、培養學生交流能力、進行交流的絕好材料。這堂課的內容,若是使學生理解、會讀而言,只要幾分鐘而已,要說在幾分鐘內提高學生交流能力、激發學生學英語的興趣,那是萬萬不可能的。所以,我精心創設了交流的情景,讓學生有更多的交流機會,提高學生的交流的能力。
