Teaching procedures and ways

Step I ： Lead-in

Show some pictures to help students learn some new words about weather.

Ask students to read the new words. Make sure they know the meaning of each word.

Then ask them to do activity 1.

Help students match the words with the symbols.

Step II： Listening

In this procedure， ask students to listen to the tape and check the correct information in the?table. If the information is wrong， correct it.

Step III Reading

In this procedure， ask students to read the dialogue and do activity 5.

T： Read the dialogue again and do activity 5. Check the answers. Lets have a competition between boys and girls.

1. joke

joke作動詞， 意為"開玩笑"。

（1） Youre joking！表示對某人所說的話表示不相信或驚訝， 也可以說“You must be joking！ ”。

（2）joke with sb. 意為“和某人開玩笑”。如：He often jokes with me.

（3）joke about sth. 意為“就某事開玩笑”。如：Peter often jokes about my mistakes.

joke還可作名詞， 意為“笑話;玩笑”， 為可數名詞。tell jokes意為“講笑話”;make jokes about意為“取笑…”， 相當于laugh at。如：The teacher often tells jokes in class.

2. probably

probably是副詞， 意為“很可能地;大概”，它所表示的可能性比較大， 表示有充分的依據、合乎情理或有望實現。如：

It will probably clear up this afternoon.

3. What …?like …？

What …?like？ 相當于how。如：

—?Whats the story like？ （= Hows the story？） 這個故事怎么樣？

—?Its very interesting.

4.better get going！ 好了，走吧。

better get going 相當于had better go，

Wed better get going （= go now）， or well be late.

Step V?Pronunciation and speaking

In this procedure， ask students to listen to the tape and help students find out the different connotation of different of intonation.

After listening， ask students to read these sentences loudly and then decide if the speaker is asking a question or showing surprise.

Speaking

Ask students to work in pairs and give a forecast for China according to activity 2.

T： In this lesson， we have learnt many different types of weather. We can use some words to describe the weather. Lets report a weather forecast for China according to activity 2. Now work in pairs and make a weather forecast. We can use may， might， probably to describe something we are not very certain of.

Ask some pairs to show their report before the class.
