教師在教學實踐中應重視句子輸入,并根據學生所要掌握的寫作詞匯或者剛學知識編寫句子及篇章,讓學生進行翻譯然后提供范文讓其進行修改,最后建議他們背下來。
一、單詞串連法
1. 為了讓學生鞏固對imagine, imaginative, imaginary及imaginable的理解,筆者以當時網絡上熱議的Hold住姐為題,編寫了以下語篇。
Miss Lin是個富有想象力的時尚課老師,非常熱愛(have a passion for)創設虛構的場面。她總是想象著如何去控制尷尬的場面。結果想象得出來的事情都很搞笑。
譯文:Miss Lin, an imaginative fashion teacher, has a passion for creating imaginary situations. She always imagines how to hold the embarrassing/awkward situations.It turns out that the stories imaginable are quite funny./ The stories imaginable turn out to be quite funny.
2. 以下翻譯目的是讓學生鞏固join, join in, attend, take part in 的用法。
Jodie 去年參加了小天使俱樂部。她經常參加俱樂部里面的比賽。有時候為了參加比賽,她沒有去學校上課。譯文:Jodie joined the Angel Club last year. She often joined in /took part in the competitions held in the club. Sometimes, she didnt attend school for the competitions. (小天使俱樂部是筆者所在大學確實存在的,跟學生提起他們向往的大學校園生活,會激發他們學習的興趣。)
二、趣味故事法
筆者在編故事的時候都喜歡用Andrew做主角,后來學生一直追問這個Andrew到底是誰以及跟筆者有什么關系。
1. 根據Module 5 Unit 3 的寫作詞匯編寫了關于Andrew學習英語的故事。
瘦小的Andrew是中山大學英語專業的學生。由于大約90%的英語專業學生都是女生,他總是被女生包圍著。當然, 他選這個專業的原因不是因為女生多,而是因為他對英語很狂熱。大家都嘲笑他瘦小的身材,但是他心胸很寬廣,根本就不介意,而是靜下心來學習英語。他很善于記住東西,能夠在極其短的時間內背一篇又長又難的文章。在他的業余時間,他總是在校園里練習英語口語,而不愿意跟別人閑聊。一天,他走在校園里練習英語口語時,看到遠處有一個女孩做著同樣的事情。他對她的第一印象不錯。于是他走過去跟她攀談了起來。他們談話的主要話題是英語學習。從交談中,Andrew得知這個女孩是附近大學的學生。
譯文:Andrew, with a slight figure, is an English major in Sun Yat-sen University. With approximately 90 percent of girl students majoring in English, he is surrounded by girls. Of course, the reason why he chose this major is not that he likes to be with girls around him, but that he is keen on English learning. Everybody laughs at his slight figure, but he is broad-minded and doesnt mind it at all. He just settles down to his study. He has a gift for remembering things and manages to recite a long and difficult English article within an amazingly short time. Rather than chat with others in his spare time, he always practices his spoken English on campus. One day, while he was walking around the campus practicing his oral English,he caught sight of a girl in the distance, doing the same as him. His first impression of her was favourable. Then he went up and chatted with her in English. The main topic of their conversation was English learning. From the conversation, Andrew learned that the girl was a student at the university nearby.
2. 在翻譯中滲透德育。教師在教學當中不僅要教書,也要育人,應該超越學科知識適時地給學生提醒或鼓舞。
(1)以下語篇是根據Module 8 Unit 3的寫作詞匯編寫的短文翻譯,學生剛上高三,通過短文提醒他們學習要有計劃和方法。
現在作為一個高三學生了,我必須開始為自己制定一個可行的計劃。為了實現我的夢想,我必須爭分奪秒地學習。另外,我應該銘記偶爾打破常規也許會幫助我在每個科目上取得明顯進步。
譯文:As a senior three student now, I must set about making/set out to make a practical plan for myself. In order to realize my dream, I have to seize every minute to study. Besides, I should bear in mind that leaving the beaten track now and then may help me make remarkable progress in every subject.
